happy birthday

Along the way, we meet all sorts of people. people we can or can't get along with, people we say hi and bye to, people who cares for us just the way we are without seeking selfish benefits out of it.

I thank God, that,
I have life
when I fall, there's someone to help me up
in difficult times, someone speaks wisdom into the situation
when I rejoice, someone rejoices even more with me
before I speak, someone knows what I have in mind
someone knows me inside out
someone is capable of loving me and disciplines me
someone cares for me with so much sincerity
someone always points me to God

I thank God, that I get to know this someone, besides Him, who loves me the way I am, and teaches me things others wouldn't teach me. I truly love this someone, and I thank God for this angel He sent to me. May your life be filled with joy and blessings abundantly from above, with peace and health hence forth. Happy birthday, mum!!=D

check it out

it's not you that speak, but it is God that speaks within you.
starting point in all you do: you are a child of God, you have come to experience this love, and you are to make a difference. first a child of God, then a daughter, sister, cousin, friend, student, engineer, teacher, doctor, business person etc.
check it out, where do you stand with God?
check it out, why're you doing wat you're doing?
check it out, where're your eyes fixed upon?
check it out, what're the essentials and what're mere distractions?
check it out, who're you trying to please? God or man?
check it out, have you given thanks for all answered prayers, all the promises He's fulfilled?
may we be reminded who we are in Him and what is expected of us. blessed week ahead!!

slave

slave, so humble some might take him as a possession (as 'it')
the only reason for existence is his master
the only purpose is to please and serve his master
the only will he could have is the master's will
the only time to rest is when his master says so
the primary thought: 'your wish is my command'

'Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.'

'Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.'

immense humility to be a slave. given the choice, it's all worth trying to be a good one, aint it?

Thank You, Lord

One year just flied by. I thank God for all.

all the happiness & sorrow,
all the laughter & tears,
all the times of growth & times i grew cold.

all in all, i thank God for who He has been, all He is, and all He'll be.
all i have and all i need, my Father, my Friend, my Encourager, my Lord, my God.

Day in Day out

Day in day out
Meeting people somewhere somehow
Some easily befriended
Some making us bewildered

Do we choose who we'll meet?
Coz it's always good to hav good company
Friends to encourage, love and share
Relatives that make sure they're always there

But what happens when people don't get along?
Do we turn our backs and say so long?
Or do we try to make them feel belong?
Coz Jesus' love is all they long?

We learn day by day
Through those who show they care
That we ought to love and point the way
Coz we're unworthy to have been loved this way

Though it's a hard lesson to learn
It's simply easier said than done
When we fail, it feels like humpty dumpty having a great fall
But He's still our God, He still loves us though we're so small
So by God's love, we learn to love, and we love to love

secure

where can we put our security in?
material wealth, some might say
popularity, others might say
power and authority, some might say
good results, others might say
success, some might say
relationships, others might say
our image, some might say
insurance policy, others might say
good deeds, some might say
knowledge, others might say

how much wealth is needed to earn security?
will power and authority make us feel secure?
how bout the best results and the greatest success?
how much security will they bring?
how people look at us, how famous we are,
will it make us feel more significant?
will it take us to be in a relationship, even one which is wrong, to feel belonged?
how much knowledge will we need to be sure of the future?
how bout good deeds?
will they secure a place for us?

security is best placed in Jesus Christ, our Lord
people change, situations change, opportunities might be missed
but our God is the same, yesterday, today and forevermore
i am loved for who i am,
a child in helplessness found her refuge and strength
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
i want to honour you coz in you, i'm secure.

Easter

Dissection test is over!! And i truly praise God for being the same yesterday, today and forevermore, the really amazing and faithful God! It's really awesome how God provides and blesses. May all the praise, the glory, the honour be to our God forever and ever!

The past two weeks or more, i've been reminded that mediocrity is not enough for God. Laziness is detestable in God's eyes, DETESTABLE. During this time, Easter season, we look upon the cross and be reminded of the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord(though not only during Easter that we think of it). When we think seriously of what He's done for us, the King of kings and the Lord of all lords, given His best for us, would it be fair or acceptable when we give our second best to Him?

But on the other hand also, we are reminded that it's not by our effort, our works nor by our hands that we receive this grace, for we are saved by grace through faith. It's simple, a choice whether to receive or to reject or to seriously think of what to do when we are offered this love and mercy.

Many times, we've let God down, let people down, let ourselves down. But what's important is that we repent, REPENT, not just merely saying sorry, but REPENT. There're times we fail, but that should not and will not stand in our way to do better next time. There're even times when we know we've given our best, but do not succeed to meet our own or God's expectations. We're often misled to think that only by being the best we glorify God. We need to be reminded that God expects our best, not just to be the best. He'll take care of the rest. When our motivation is to glorify God, to honour God, to please God, to love God, even when we fail, we know that God is pleased and it helps us get back on our feet, to move on. In His time, God makes all things beautiful in His time. The amount of regret or sadness will not change what has already happened, so just get back on our feet and move on.
In good times, we praise God, the same goes when times are bad, we still praise Him for what He has done! For all honour, glory and power belongs to our God!=D Let us be encouraged by His love! Happy Easter! thank You, Jesus!!=D

He's SOOOOOOO real!!!

when words are said at the right time, at d right place to the right person, it's just so so amazing. that's how God is. He just knows when to speak and what to say. words of encouragement or words that rebukes and builds us up, it is just hits bulls eye when God speaks. but many times, it's just that we are so blind, so deaf that we just don't listen to His still small voice, and don't recognize that our shepherd is calling.
people that rebuke and correct us because they love us, these people are hard to come by. the word of God does more than encourage, it teaches, builds and rebukes. it's just utterly absolutely undeniably awesome when and how God speaks. i'm just so blown away, so amazed, so in awe, so in love with God. He's really someone i can count on, someone i can take refuge in, someone i can talk to, someone that will be there for me, someone who teaches and disciplines me, someone who loves me so much that He gave me the gift and grace of salvation through Jesus. i pray for a still and attentive spirit that listens to Him and recognize His voice. He is a covenant keeping God, indeed!! He's a wonder working God!!! He's so SOOOOO real!! He is so refreshing! wow!!

Give up?

It's so easy to give up, to take the easy way out. So many excuses or "reasons" we can find to walk away and say, "i've got nothing to do with this, and i shall not have to deal with this." But when we stop and think, what if God had given up on us? Would we still have this day and this privilege to come before Him, and be so honoured to call Him Dad? If God had said, i've had enough, you'll never reach the standard of holiness i have; and might be, you should just stop trying; and might be, i should just give up on you. If God had given up, there would not be a reason for us to live. If God had given up.. I wouldn't dare imagine that day and place without God, it would be so dark, so hopeless, so much suffering, so much agony, so much tears, loud cries of help that would not be answered...

But thank God, He hasn't given up!!=D there's still hope in the Lord Jesus Christ! And when i have received this gift of love, grace and mercy, i am going to share this love. We're all called to love. To love God first, and to love others. When i feel like giving up, i could only think, what if God did the same?

When people tell us that they want to give up, will we encourage them to persevere, continue loving and serving? or will we say, 'yeah, i think it's better to give up and stop wasting your time and effort'? I have chosen to be an encourager, i will try my best never to cause people to stumble. I pray for the gift of encouragement and faith, faith like that of a child, faith as big as a mustard seed, faith that can move mountains.

"Perseverence must finish it's work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing."

"And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

Venice

A memorable trip it was! A trip to Venice, the city of water. Visited many museums, Doge's Palace, San Michelle(one of my favourite, it's actually a cemetery, nevertheless, extremely beautiful!!), Murano(glass making was the trade of the residents of the island-watched part of glass making process), Burano(the most beautiful island maybe, among the 120 islands; lace making was the trade for women, while men were fishermen. houses were really colourful and the atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet-should be a good place for retirement or holiday) and Ghetto(Jewish residence, there's a synagogue there, but didn't make it in time for the mass and it was closed). We visited the alleys, all surrounded by shops selling clothes, masks, accessories, souvenirs and also food, of course=D

We also had a gondola ride, although i wouldn't say it was worth the price, but it was a new experience=D amazing how a guy can steer a gondola with up to 8 people in it. The gondola is shorter on the side where the oar is, to make sure that it goes straight since they row only on one side. We missed the Rialto market, though.. coz it was a Sunday. The veporato or water bus was the main means of transport.

San Marco square was really really packed, especially during the weekends and during day time, where many were seen dressed in all sorts of costumes(mask, accessories, make-up and clothes). From dutches, doges, princesses, angels, royalty, Zorro, chinese, noah(really caught my eye-he was with his ark with animals all in pairs! and he only stopped and pose when people call him noah! funny guy..) to tele tubbies and some kind of Frankenstein! Families were out, even the children were dressed in costumes! I think it's a way to bring the family together, doing something together. There were also costume parades at different times of the day, it was really pleasing to the eye and just marvel at the creativity of people. There was also bands with drums accompanying the costume parade, together successfully creating a festive and joyous atmosphere. On one of the nights, there was a tango dance night and an open floor, it was much less packed as compared to the day time. People were dancing away, some were professionals, quite nice, the dances. What's more amazing is the lady who could wear a skirt and dance in the cold for so long!

All in all, thank God for a great trip with great friends and thank God also for good weather, sunny and not raining!=D

praise

praise God from whom all blessings flow!! praise Him all creatures here below! praise Him above ye heavenly host! let all that has breath praise Him!!
passed my biophysics exam today!!=D well, all i can say is that, prayer really works!!=D it's not just the result, but thank God for blessing me with much peace and assurance that it'll all turn out for good for those who love Him! the night before exam, suddenly i felt so anxious, juz prayed: 'not my will but yours be done, i'm gonna do it for your glory. i will praise You in good times, and in bad, i'll still praise You.' i believe, prayers of others also cover us=D as my mum always say, cover each other with prayer. be it prayer of a righteous mum, siblings who please God or friends with much faith, those prayers sure did work! thank God for family and friends who care and prays fervently=D thank God for He is my God=D
make it a point to pray, 1 minute, 10 mins or however long. for everytime i pray, i move the hands of God. my prayer does the things, my hands cannot do.
"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land"
2Chronicles 7:14

Happy 20th Birthday!!

This is specially dedicated to a friend who has been a great sister in Christ, an awesome listener, with a gentle spirit and lotzz of love. Since in college, she has been a cheerful, lively and encouraging friend. We share something in common, we like to EAT! also, more importantly, we share the same God! going to church together was really a great deal of fun, especially worship practices=D i've seen her grow in the Lord, striving to be a better for the Lord; letting God be the centre and the first in her life; learning to lean, trust and surrender everything to His mighty hands. quiet as she may seem to many, or this might be her nature(quite opposite of what i am ^^), but she's someone passionate for the Lord and that's what counts! with the ability of get things moving, the gift of singing and a willing heart, i'm sure the Lord'll use her in a very special way to touch people and for the expansion of His kingdom=D nevertheless, it's really fun and a great pleasure to have her in my life. thank God for Agnes!

AGNNEESSSSS!!!! Happy bithday!! May your year ahead be filled with God's blessings overflowing in your life, and may His love, joy, peace and hope be with you everyday, may He guard your heart and light your every step! May you continue to shine for the Lord!!

power or weakness or both?

Praise the LORD!!!! thank God!!! hallelujah!! wow!! it's being a busy week, none the less a great week!! with birthday celebration!! and today, i got my credit for anatomy!!! i was really desperate or uneasy? i haven't finished studying on thursday morning, just a morning before the exam. i just prayed, Lord, you be glorified, i'll study my best and you'll do the rest. well, it turned out, He's again proved that He's a faithful God!!
when we're busy, we tend to lose focus.. we get so caught up in working or doing things, that we forget that we're doing it for the glory of God. we are always thinking of the things we can possibly do to make things work, we give it our best shot, (which is the right thing to do), but we forget that we are doing it not by might or power, but doing it by the spirit of God. sometimes, we feel inadequate, we've tried our best, given our best, but it's just not good enough. we feel so helpless, so worthless, and we think of the possibility of throwing in the towel, walking away. then comes this still small voice, He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. we know, He's there, when we need a pat on the back, when we need someone to talk to when we're away from home, when we need a break from the things around. there's someone we can always run to. someone we have our full confidence in. someone there to get us back on our feet. someone who is the very reason we live. someone that loves, encourages, guides, rebukes and disciplines. then, we realise that these things happen so that He will be glorified. all we need to do is to give our best and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
we work, knowing that we work to please God, never men. we work, knowing that we're working hand in hand with God. assured that even when we fail, He's there with us and that in our weakness, His power is made perfect! You will never walk alone!

Along life's road
There will be sunshine and rain
Roses and thorns, laughter and pain
And 'cross the miles
You will face mountains so steep
Deserts so long and valleys so deep
Sometimes the Journey's gentle
Sometimes the cold winds blow
But I want you to remember
I want you to know

You will never walk alone
As long as you have faith
Jesus will be right beside you all the way
You may feel you're far from home
But home is where He is
And he'll be there down every road
You will never walk alone
The path will wind

And you will find wonders and fears
Labors of love and a few falling tears
Across the years
There will be some twists and turns
Mistakes to make and lessons to learn
Sometimes the journey's gentle
Sometimes the cold winds blow
But I want you to remember where ever you may

Jesus knows your joy, Jesus knows your need
He will go the distance with you faithfully
